Inverter Fault Code Lookup

Type the code on your solar inverter, or describe what you can see, and get the plain-English meaning, how serious it is and what to do next. 1,357 codes across 31 brands, read from the makers' own manuals, with the source on every answer. No sign-up, no contact details.

How we diagnose a fault

Back to the lookup

A fault code is the inverter telling you what it found. Most of the time it is a grid condition or a short pause and the unit sorts itself out; some of the time it is a safety fault that nobody can fix from a phone; and on an older unit from a maker that has closed, a hardware fault is the end of the road. The lookup above sorts every code into one of three outcomes and always errs on the cautious side. [confirm wording]

The three outcomes

Wait and watchThe inverter paused for a reason outside itself: grid voltage or frequency out of range, not enough light, a monitoring link down. It restarts on its own. If the same code shows most days, book a check.
Worth a lookSomething to check or restart safely: a tripped switch, a blocked vent, a dropped wifi link. We give the safe steps away. If the fault comes back within a day, it needs a visit.
Stop and callInsulation, earth leakage, relay, arc, internal and overheating faults. Leave the inverter alone, switch it off if there is any smell, and book a licensed electrician. On a brand that has closed, this is usually a replacement.

The only safe restart

  1. 1Solar supply main switch offAt the switchboard, the breaker labelled Solar Supply Main Switch or Inverter.
  2. 2DC isolator offThe rotary switch next to the inverter. Roof isolators stay where they are.
  3. 3Wait five minutesLet the screen go fully dark and the capacitors discharge.
  4. 4DC isolator onThen wait for the inverter to wake and run its checks.
  5. 5Solar supply main switch onIn daylight it should reconnect within a few minutes.

Never open the inverter, never touch wiring, and never restart a unit that smells hot or shows scorch marks. If a fault comes back after one restart, stop and book a visit.

What a visit covers

First, a free phone diagnosisWe talk the code and the symptoms through before anyone drives anywhere. Plenty of faults end there.
Then the testsInsulation resistance on every string, earth continuity, relay operation, DC string voltages and currents, the AC supply, and the fault log on the unit.
The callout comes off the workThere is a callout fee, and it is credited against any repair, replacement or other work we do. On a closed-brand unit we quote the replacement and the hybrid option side by side.

Where these codes come from

Every code in the lookup was read from the maker's own operating or installation manual, or from its support pages, and each answer shows its source. Where a maker has closed and only a secondary copy survives, the answer says so and the wording is softer.
