Why a Growatt error code is worth sorting now

A Growatt showing an error or warning has usually stopped turning sunlight into power for your home. Until it is sorted, you pay full price for grid power your roof should be covering. Some Growatt codes are a safety matter as well: PV Isolation Low and Residual I High mean live solar wiring may be leaking to earth, and an arc fault is a fire risk.

Growatt is supported in Australia through its local office and distributors, and a fault on one can sometimes be repaired, depending on what has failed. A lot of Growatt codes are not hardware failures at all: the grid moving out of range, a tripped switch, a meter that has stopped talking, or a wet connector on the roof. That is why the diagnosis matters more than the code.

Dealt with early, most Growatt faults have a quicker and cheaper answer. Left to repeat, a leak to earth worsens with each wet spell, and a relay or board fault that keeps tripping does not get better on its own.

Find your code in the table below to see what it means and how urgent it is. If your home is in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Gawler, the Barossa, the Fleurieu, Murray Bridge and Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, or North Brisbane, Caboolture, Bribie Island, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie in Queensland, our own licensed electricians will go through it with you over the phone for free before anyone drives out. Check your postcode to see if we cover you.

Which Growatt inverter do you have?

The model is on the label on the side of the unit, and in the ShinePhone app if your system is connected to it.

  • MIN (2500 to 6000TL-X): the 2.5 to 6 kW string inverter range many codes on this page come from. Supported.
  • MOD (3000 to 6000TL3-X): three-phase string inverters, which add codes such as Error 403 for unbalanced output. Supported.
  • Larger units (10 to 20 kUE, 30 to 50K TL3-S): covered by Growatt's troubleshooting guides. Older Growatt units log some faults as three-digit record codes, such as 124 for no grid and 125 for an insulation fault.

All 70 Growatt error codes, explained

Growatt shows a fault as Error or Warning followed by a number, or as a short message on the screen such as PV Isolation Low or No AC Connection. The word in front matters: Error 302 means no grid connection, but Warning 302 is the grid frequency out of range. Every code is below, grouped by what it relates to: the grid and mains supply, the panel input and power output, insulation and earth faults, heat and cooling fans, the unit's internal hardware, and monitoring. The number in brackets after each code's name is its source in the reference list.

  • Stop and call A safety or hardware fault that nobody can fix from a phone. Do the one safe restart at most, then call.
  • Worth a look Something to check or restart safely. If it comes back, book a visit.
  • Wait and watch The inverter has paused for a reason outside itself, usually the grid or the light, and restarts on its own.

We always err on the cautious side: when a code sits between two ratings, it gets the higher one.

Grid and mains supply error codes 11 codes

The mains grid coming into the unit: voltage, frequency and outages. Many of these are the grid, not the inverter, and clear on their own. 1 stop and call, 10 wait and watch.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
AC F OutrangeGrowatt AC F Outrange Grid frequency out of range[1][6]

The grid frequency has drifted outside the allowed band, so the inverter has paused. This is a network event, not a fault in the inverter, and it clears on its own.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
AC V OutrangeGrowatt AC V Outrange Grid voltage out of range[1][6]

The mains voltage at your house has gone outside the band the inverter is allowed to run in, so it has paused. On sunny days with lots of solar in the street this is common and clears itself.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Error 124Growatt Error 124 Grid not connected[5]

Code 124 is how older Growatt units log No AC Connection: the inverter cannot see mains power. Usually a tripped solar supply main switch, a street outage or a loose AC connection.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Error 300Growatt Error 300 Grid voltage out of range[1]

The mains voltage has gone outside the band the inverter is allowed to run in (shown as AC V Outrange), so it has paused. Common on sunny days in streets with lots of solar, and it clears itself.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Error 302Growatt Error 302 No grid connection[1]

The inverter cannot see mains power on its AC side (shown as No AC Connection). Usually a tripped solar supply main switch, a street outage or a loose AC connection.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Error 304Growatt Error 304 Grid frequency out of range[1]

The grid frequency has drifted outside the allowed band (shown as AC F Outrange), so the inverter has paused. It is a network event and clears on its own.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
No AC ConnectionGrowatt No AC Connection No grid connection[2][5][9]

The inverter cannot see mains power on its AC side. Usually a tripped solar supply main switch, a power outage in the street, or a loose AC connection.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Warning 202Growatt Warning 202 DC surge protector warning[1]

The surge protection device on the inverter's DC side has reported a problem, often after a storm has used it up. The inverter keeps running but has lost that protection until the device is replaced. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 300Growatt Warning 300 No grid[3]

The inverter cannot see mains power. Usually a tripped solar supply main switch, a power outage or a loose AC connection.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Warning 301Growatt Warning 301 Grid voltage out of range[3]

The mains voltage has gone outside the band the inverter is allowed to run in, so it has paused. Common on sunny days in streets with lots of solar, and it clears itself.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch
Warning 302Growatt Warning 302 Grid frequency out of range[3]

The grid frequency has drifted outside the allowed band, so the inverter has paused. It is a network event, not an inverter fault, and clears on its own; Error 302 on the same units means no AC connection instead.

Safe steps in the lookup
Wait and watch

Panel input and power output error codes 17 codes

The DC input from the panels and the power the unit puts out: string voltage, low light, overloads and output limits. 15 stop and call, 2 worth a look.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
Error 111Growatt Error 111 Power stage drive fault[2][5]

On Australian three-phase units this is a drive fault in the power stage; the US single-phase manual uses 111 for neutral-to-earth voltage being too high. Either way the inverter has stopped and needs an electrician.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 202Growatt Error 202 Panel voltage too high[1]

The voltage from the panels is above the inverter's maximum (shown as PV Voltage High). Growatt says to disconnect the DC switch straight away and have the string checked; it is usually too many panels in one string.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 301Growatt Error 301 AC wiring reversed[3]

The inverter has found its AC terminals wired the wrong way round. This is an installation fault and must be corrected by an electrician.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 305Growatt Error 305 Backup output overloaded[3]

On a hybrid unit, the appliances on the backup circuit are drawing more than the inverter can supply. Reducing the load clears it; if it happens with little running, book a visit.

Safe steps in the lookup
Worth a look
Error 400Growatt Error 400 DC offset fault[3]

The inverter's output has a DC offset it should not have. Growatt says restart first; if it stays, the output stage or its sensing needs a look. DC on the AC side is a protection fault, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 401Growatt Error 401 DC voltage fault[3]

The inverter's DC side voltage is too high and it has stopped to protect itself. Growatt's MOD manual says restart once, then contact them; Warning 401 on the same units is the meter warning, which is minor.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 402Growatt Error 402 DC in the AC output[1]

The inverter found too much DC mixed into the AC power it sends to the grid (shown as Output High DCI). A one-off is usually a grid blip; if it keeps coming back the output stage needs a look. DC on the AC side is a protection fault, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 403Growatt Error 403 Unbalanced output[3]

On a three-phase inverter the current on the three phases is out of balance, which can be a grid or wiring issue or a fault in the output stage. An electrician needs to check which.

Safe steps in the lookup
Worth a look
Error 413Growatt Error 413 Power stage drive fault[3]

A fault in the drive for the inverter's main power switches, which is a board-level failure. The inverter has stopped and needs a technician.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Output High DCIGrowatt Output High DCI DC in the AC output[1][4]

The inverter found too much DC mixed into the AC power it sends to the grid. A one-off is usually a grid blip; if it keeps coming back the output stage or its sensing needs a look. DC on the AC side is a protection fault, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
PV Voltage HighGrowatt PV Voltage High Panel voltage too high[1][4]

The voltage coming from the panels is above what the inverter can take, which happens when too many panels are in one string, especially on cold clear mornings. Growatt says to switch the DC isolator off straight away and have it checked.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 203Growatt Warning 203 Short circuit on a string[1][7]

The inverter has found a short circuit on one of its solar inputs, usually a wiring or connector fault or reversed polarity. This needs an electrician; do not keep restarting it.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 205Growatt Warning 205 Input stage fault[1][7]

The boost circuit on one of the solar inputs has failed, so that string is not producing. Growatt's manual points to a power board replacement.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 208Growatt Warning 208 DC fuse blown[3]

A fuse on one of the solar inputs has opened, so that string is not producing. Fuses blow for a reason, so the string needs checking before the fuse is replaced.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 209Growatt Warning 209 Panel voltage too high[3]

The voltage from the panels is above the inverter's maximum, usually too many panels in a string on a cold morning. Growatt says to disconnect the DC switch straight away and have the string checked.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 210Growatt Warning 210 String connected backwards[3]

One of the solar inputs is wired with the polarity reversed. This is an installation fault and needs an electrician to correct it.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 406Growatt Warning 406 Input stage fault[3]

The boost module on the inverter's solar input has reported a fault. Growatt says restart once; if it stays, it is a board fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call

Panels, insulation and earth faults error codes 12 codes

Insulation, earth and leakage faults on the solar panel side. These are safety faults: live DC wiring may be leaking to earth somewhere on the roof. 12 stop and call.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
Error 112Growatt Error 112 Arc fault detected[2][5]

The inverter detected an electrical arc in the solar DC wiring and shut down. Arcing is a fire risk, so leave the system off and have it inspected.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 114Growatt Error 114 Arc detector fault[2][5]

The inverter's arc-fault detection module failed its own self-check, so the inverter will not run without that protection. This is an internal fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 119Growatt Error 119 Earth leakage detector fault[2][4]

The circuit that watches for current leaking to earth has failed its check, so the inverter will not run without that protection. This is an internal fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 125Growatt Error 125 Insulation fault[4][5]

Code 125 is how older Growatt units log PV Isolation Low: the insulation between the solar DC wiring and earth is too low. Usually moisture in a connector or isolator, a damaged cable or a faulty panel.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 200Growatt Error 200 Arc fault detected[1]

The inverter detected an electrical arc in the solar DC wiring, sounded its buzzer and shut down. Arcing is a fire risk, so leave the system off and have it inspected rather than resetting it.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 201Growatt Error 201 Leakage current too high[1]

The inverter detected current leaking to earth and tripped (shown as Residual I High on the screen). It usually points to moisture or damage in the DC wiring or panels, or an AC neutral or earth problem.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 203Growatt Error 203 Insulation fault[1]

The insulation between the solar DC wiring and earth is too low (shown as PV Isolation Low). Usually moisture in a connector or isolator, a damaged cable or a faulty panel; the inverter will not connect until it is fixed.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 303Growatt Error 303 Neutral to earth fault[1]

The inverter measured more than 30 volts between neutral and earth, which means a problem with the earth or neutral connection somewhere in the installation. This is a safety fault for an electrician.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 420Growatt Error 420 Earth leakage detector fault[1]

The circuit that watches for current leaking to earth has reported a fault, so the inverter will not run without that protection. Growatt says restart once, then contact them.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 425Growatt Error 425 Arc detector self-test fault[1]

The inverter's arc-fault detection failed its own self-check, so the inverter will not run without that protection. Growatt says restart once, then contact them.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
PV Isolation LowGrowatt PV Isolation Low Insulation fault[1][4]

The inverter measured too little insulation between the solar DC wiring and earth, usually moisture in a connector or isolator, a damaged cable or a faulty panel. It will not connect until this is fixed.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Residual I HighGrowatt Residual I High Leakage current too high[1][4]

The inverter detected current leaking to earth that should not be there, which is a safety trip. It usually points to moisture or damage somewhere in the DC wiring or panels, or an AC neutral or earth problem.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call

Heat and cooling fans error codes 5 codes

Over-temperature, heat derating and the cooling fans. Heat faults are taken seriously: a unit that cannot cool itself can be a fire risk. 5 stop and call.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
Error 408Growatt Error 408 Inverter too hot[1][7]

The inverter's temperature sensor reads too hot and it has stopped to protect itself. Growatt says to restart once the surroundings are below 60 degrees; if it keeps happening the fan or airflow needs a look. Heat shutdowns point at a failing fan, a blocked vent or a bad installation spot, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 412Growatt Error 412 Temperature sensor fault[3]

The inverter's temperature sensor is not connected properly or has failed, so it cannot protect itself from overheating and has stopped. This is an internal fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Over TemperatureGrowatt Over Temperature Inverter too hot[1][6]

The inverter has got hotter than it is allowed to run and has wound back or stopped to protect itself. It restarts on its own once it cools. Heat shutdowns point at a failing fan, a blocked vent or a bad installation spot, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 100Growatt Warning 100 Fan not working[2][4]

The inverter's cooling fan is not running properly. It keeps producing but will run hotter and may wind back on warm days until the fan is replaced. A fan fault lets the inverter overheat, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 400Growatt Warning 400 Fan not working[3]

The inverter's cooling fan is not running properly. It keeps producing but will run hotter and wind back on warm days until the fan is replaced. A fan fault lets the inverter overheat, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call

Internal hardware and safety checks error codes 19 codes

The unit's own electronics: relays, sensors, the DC bus, memory and its self-checks. Nearly all of these need an electrician. 19 stop and call.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
Auto Test FailedGrowatt Auto Test Failed Self-test not passed[1][4]

The inverter runs a self-test of its grid protection when it starts and this one did not pass, usually because the grid was unstable at the time. A restart repeats the test. A failed self-test means the inverter cannot prove its own protection works, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 100Growatt Error 100 Internal reference voltage fault[2]

An internal reference voltage on the control board is out of range, so the inverter cannot trust its own measurements and has stopped. This is a board fault, not something in your wiring.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 101Growatt Error 101 Internal communication fault[2][4]

The two processors inside the inverter have stopped talking to each other. A restart often clears a one-off; if it comes back, a board needs attention. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 102Growatt Error 102 Consistent fault[2]

The two processors inside the inverter took different readings of the grid, which Growatt says is usually caused by the grid voltage or frequency changing quickly. A restart clears it; if it keeps happening the grid supply needs checking. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 116Growatt Error 116 Memory fault[2]

The settings memory on the control board has failed. Growatt's manual says to contact them; it is a board repair rather than something a restart fixes.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 117Growatt Error 117 Relay fault[2][4]

The relay that connects the inverter to the grid failed its check (Growatt's guide says after six failed attempts). The inverter stays disconnected until the relay or its board is repaired.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 118Growatt Error 118 Start-up model fault[2]

The inverter could not load its model settings when it started, so it will not run. This is an internal fault that Growatt says to refer to them.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 120Growatt Error 120 Current sensor fault[2]

The sensor that measures the inverter's output current has failed, so the inverter cannot run safely. This is an internal fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 121Growatt Error 121 Internal communication fault[2][4]

The main processor stopped receiving data from the communication board. Growatt says to restart first; if it keeps happening the board needs attention. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 122Growatt Error 122 Internal bus voltage fault[2][4]

The voltage on the inverter's internal DC bus is out of range (too high on the three-phase units). The inverter has stopped to protect itself and the cause is inside the unit or in the string configuration.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 404Growatt Error 404 Internal bus sensing fault[1]

The inverter cannot measure its internal DC bus voltage properly, so it has stopped. This is an internal fault; Growatt says restart once, then contact them.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 405Growatt Error 405 Relay fault[1]

The relay that connects the inverter to the grid failed its check, so the inverter stays disconnected. Growatt says restart once, then contact them; it is usually a relay or board repair.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 407Growatt Error 407 Self-test not passed[1]

The inverter's start-up self-test of its grid protection did not pass (shown as Auto Test Failed), usually because the grid was unstable at the time. A restart repeats the test. A failed self-test means the inverter cannot prove its own protection works, so we treat it as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 409Growatt Error 409 Internal bus over voltage[1]

The voltage on the inverter's internal DC bus went too high and it has stopped to protect itself. This can be a string configuration issue or a fault inside the unit.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 411Growatt Error 411 Internal communication fault[1][8]

The inverter's main processor and its communication board have stopped talking. Growatt says to check the solar connections on a new install, restart, and if it stays they update the firmware. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 414Growatt Error 414 Memory fault[1]

The inverter had a fault with its settings memory. Growatt says restart first; if it keeps coming back the control board needs a look. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 103Growatt Warning 103 Memory read warning[2][4]

The inverter could not read its settings memory properly. It usually clears with a restart; if it keeps appearing the control board needs a look. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 105Growatt Warning 105 Memory write warning[2][4]

The inverter could not save to its settings memory. A restart usually clears it; if it keeps coming back the control board needs a look. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Warning 404Growatt Warning 404 Memory warning[1]

The inverter had trouble with its settings memory. A restart usually clears it; if it keeps coming back the control board needs a look. Internal and hardware faults need testing with the right instruments, so we treat them as a call.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call

Monitoring, communication and settings error codes 6 codes

Monitoring, Wi-Fi, meters, communication between parts of the system, settings and firmware. Usually not a hardware fault, but the system may stop reporting. 3 stop and call, 3 worth a look.

Error codeWhat it meansWhat to do
Error 107Growatt Error 107 Sensing mismatch fault[4][5]

The inverter's two processors disagree on a safety measurement (on later three-phase units the leakage current reading), so it has stopped. This is an internal fault.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 406Growatt Error 406 Start-up model fault[3]

The inverter could not load its model settings when it started. Growatt's manual calls for a mode reset by a technician; it is not something a home restart fixes.

Safe steps in the lookup
Stop and call
Error 417Growatt Error 417 Sensing mismatch fault[1]

The inverter's two processors took different readings of the same measurement. A restart clears a one-off; if it keeps happening a board needs attention.

Safe steps in the lookup
Worth a look
Warning 104Growatt Warning 104 Firmware version mismatch[2][4]

The two processors inside the inverter are running firmware that does not match. It needs a firmware update from Growatt or an installer rather than anything you can do at home.

Safe steps in the lookup
Worth a look
Warning 401Growatt Warning 401 Energy meter not responding[1][8]

The inverter has lost contact with its energy meter (used for export limiting or battery control), so it may be holding back output. The meter needs to be powered and connected; the solar itself is fine.

Safe steps in the lookup
Worth a look
Warning 405Growatt Warning 405 Firmware version mismatch[1]

The two processors inside the inverter are running firmware that does not match and it needs an update from Growatt or an installer. (Error 405 on the same units is a relay fault, which is more serious.) A relay fault can leave the inverter unable to disconnect safely, so we treat it as a call.

Got a Growatt error code? Free phone diagnosis in our service area

Our own licensed electricians cover Greater Adelaide and regional SA, and from North Brisbane up through the Sunshine Coast to Gympie. Check your postcode, then read us the code and tell us the install year. If it needs a visit, the callout is credited against the work.

How to reset a Growatt inverter safely

Try one restart, in this order:

  1. Switch the solar supply main switch off at the switchboard.
  2. Switch the DC isolator off at the inverter.
  3. Wait five minutes.
  4. Switch the DC isolator back on, then the solar supply main switch.

Never open the unit or touch the wiring. Never restart anything that smells hot or shows scorch marks. If the code comes back after one restart, stop and call.

Growatt inverter repair or replacement?

On a visit, our electricians test the whole system before they blame the Growatt. That covers insulation resistance on every string, earth continuity, the relay, DC string voltages and currents, the AC supply and the inverter's own fault record. A PV Isolation Low or Error 203 usually leads to the roof, and an Error 117 to the relay, so the test results decide what gets fixed.

Growatt is supported here through its local office and distributors, so some faults are a straightforward repair and others, such as a failed board, can make a replacement the better choice. When that happens, we quote a straight replacement and a hybrid option side by side, and the callout comes off whichever you choose.

We do this work in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Gawler, the Barossa, the Fleurieu, Murray Bridge and Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, or North Brisbane, Caboolture, Bribie Island, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie in Queensland only. Outside those areas, everything above still applies: take the code, its meaning and the urgency to a licensed electrician near you.

Growatt error code questions, answered

How do I read a Growatt error code?

Copy down the whole thing, including the word in front: Error, Warning, or a message like Residual I High. The number alone is not enough, because Growatt reuses numbers between errors and warnings. Older units may show a three-digit record code such as 124 or 125 instead. Search what you copied in the table above.

What does Growatt PV Isolation Low mean?

PV Isolation Low is “insulation fault”. The inverter measured too little insulation between the solar DC wiring and earth, usually moisture in a connector or isolator, a damaged cable or a faulty panel. It will not connect until this is fixed. We rate it stop and call. See it in the table.

What does Growatt Error 302 mean?

Error 302 is “no grid connection”. The inverter cannot see mains power on its AC side (shown as No AC Connection). Usually a tripped solar supply main switch, a street outage or a loose AC connection. We rate it wait and watch. See it in the table.

Do you cover my area?

We work in Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Gawler, the Barossa, the Fleurieu, Murray Bridge and Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, or North Brisbane, Caboolture, Bribie Island, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie in Queensland. Check your postcode to be sure. Outside those areas, this page still tells you what your code means and how urgent it is, and a licensed electrician near you can take it from there.

What does it cost to have a Growatt looked at?

For homes in our service area, the phone diagnosis is free. If it needs a visit, there is a callout fee, and it is credited against any repair or replacement we do.

Will you work on a Growatt you did not install?

Yes, if it is in our service area. Most of our repair work is on systems someone else installed. We test the whole system, not just the unit on the wall.

Is Error 405 the same as Warning 405?

No. Error 405 is a relay fault: the relay that connects the inverter to the grid failed its check, and it is usually a relay or board repair. Warning 405 is a firmware mismatch between the inverter’s two processors, which needs an update rather than parts. Check which word your screen shows before you search.

Is a Growatt worth repairing?

Sometimes. It depends on what has failed and how old the unit is. A grid, insulation or wiring fault is fixed outside the inverter, and that is worth doing on any unit. A failed board is where a replacement can make more sense, and we price both so you can compare.

Where do the codes on this page come from?

Every Growatt code here comes from Growatt’s own documents: the MIN and MOD installation manuals, its troubleshooting guides for the larger units, a US-market installation manual and Growatt’s FAQ. Where the US manual uses a number differently from Australian units, the row says so. Each code carries a numbered reference to its document in the source list.
